Name: Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe
Location: Magic Kingdom, in Tomorrowland
Cuisine: American
Type: Counter Service; divided into 3 separate "Bays", each with different menu options, food-court style.
Good For Those Who: Want the most options of any quickservice joint in the Magic Kingdom; would like to watch a silly animatronic alien singing jazzy music while they eat.
Price Range: Disney lists this location in their $ range, which means everything is $14.99 or less. Entrees here vary in price, but typically cost around $9.
Times: Lunch and Dinner
Reservations: None, since this is quickervice. Like I always say, don't go between 12 and 2 if you want to avoid the crowds.
My Recommendation: I always get the rotisserie chicken meal. Good stuff- the green beans it comes with are especially noteworthy. Also, if you happen to be here on a cold day (buuuuttt... this is Florida, so you probably won't be), try the hot chocolate. Seriously, it is the best I've had at Disney. You can tell it is actually made with real milk. Not like some of the other stands that hawk spoonfuls of Swiss Miss dumped in cups of lukewarm water.
Healthier Option: There are several here. The turkey sandwhich, however, comes highly recommended by two of my Disney buds, and it comes on whole grain bread with a tasty cucumber salad on the side.
The Bays: This location consists of 3 separate "Bays": one for Chicken, one for Hamburgers, and one for Sandwiches and Salads. Although, these titles are definitely misnomers, because the chicken bay also serves pork, the hamburger bay also has chicken sandwiches, and... you get my point. Check out all the menus before you decide. And keep in mind that you pay separately at each bay, which might be a problem if you are there with a bunch of kids who each want something in a different bay. Still, though, Cosmic Ray's has more choices in the same general place than any other MK eatery.
Cosmic Ray's is pretty much my favorite quickservice location at Magic Kingdom. Good food, lots of options.
Snag a table in the large sunken eating area, near the stage, to be serenaded by the cafe's star performer, Sonny Eclipse: The biggest little star in the galaxy. In other words, an adorable robot "alien" outfitted in a sparkly tux crooning oldies. He's pretty much the main reason this is my favorite place. Shhhh.
xoxo, Lily
